Each Living Thing

This is an acrostic poem, which means that the first letters of each line, when read vertically, from top to bottom, spell out a word or phrase.

People, being human, think they’re unique;
Let them be called ill-adapted, or weak,
And they will claim that their minds compensate:
No other creature has overcome fate;
Technology proves that man will endure,
Something that other beings can’t ensure;

At the top of the food chain, humans take
Resources from earth, just for their own sake;
Even now, the plants are under their thumb,

Although the plants are anything but dumb;
When humans choose to change their harmful ways,
At the conclusion of the End of Days,
Righteousness will again cover the earth;
Each living thing will perceive its own worth.
